Ancient Origins magazine article featuring our director, forensic anthropologist Julian McBride on trauma and ancient warriors.
Osama Bin Laden has to some degree achieved his end goals and America played directly into his hands. Now here’s why:
When OBL planned the 9/11 attacks, his goal was to stretch American military forces thin throughout the Islamic world to where our country would cripple itself economically through multiple wars. Basically what happened to the Western Roman and German Empires that were stretched too thin to where their wars economically collapsed them from the inside: https://ips-dc.org/osama_bin_ladens_secret_strategy/
The Global War on Terrorism now has costed the United States $6 Trillion (https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2018/11/14/price-tag-of-the-war-on-terror-will-top-6-trillion-soon/) a good portion of our national debt, and American forces are now spread out in the Middle East, Southwest Asia, and North Africa: Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Libya, Niger, Nigeria, Mali, and many more countries I cannot even name all. We even attached countries that had nothing to do with 9/11 all for greed, oil, resources, and to make the central banks happy: Iraq, Libya, Syria, just to name a few. Now just imagine what we could’ve done with $6T: fixed our infrastructure, since it ranks last amongst developed nations. Improved healthcare, had more green energy solutions, fix our homeless problem, improve education and NASA, etc. but of course if you rather have your tax dollars being used for your own people rather than endless war, you’re labeled as a “socialist” in America.
Most of the 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia, Bin Laden’s homeland, yet instead of throwing investigations, sanctions, or military action against the oppressive House of Saud regime, we rewarded them billions of taxpayer dollars in weapons deals. Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, ISIS, and other terror groups have a Wahhabism ideology. Only a few countries practices and preaches that: the gulf states that export terrorism, but of course they’ll never face justice, because they’re backed by western states who need puppets. Our country literally backs the same evil we claim to fight against in the name of ‘freedom and democracy.’
Now our country, which stands at 239 years old has been at war for 222 years. No that is not a typo, we have been AT WAR FOR 222 EFFIN YEARS!!!!! https://www.globalresearch.ca/america-has-been-at-war-93-of-the-time-222-out-of-239-years-since-1776/5565946 The military industrial complex runs this country and President Dwight Eisenhower warned about it: https://www.npr.org/2011/01/17/132942244/ikes-warning-of-military-expansion-50-years-later
Bin laden knew our country couldn’t resist a good war, because we value our contractors and corporate masters more than we value our own troops. Look at how many countries we’ve bombed since 9/11, let alone post WWII. Look at how many puppet regimes we support. The same ones bin laden also declared fatwas against. Ladies and gentlemen, say what you want, but I’ll reiterate this again, in my own opinion and assessment, Bin Laden to some degree achieved some of his end goals. It’s been 8 years since his death and we still have some sort of military action in 10 different countries today, along with a “shadow war” in Africa: https://rcg.org/realtruth/articles/171102-002.html
And one last thing. If you want to know how OBL knew how to cripple our country, ask the CIA. They trained, armed and financed him personally during Operation Cyclone in the 80s. Unless our country stops our neoliberalistic imperial expansion in the name of the Military Industrial Complex, our debt will continue to rise and things we should prioritize on: science, infrastructure, homelessness, etc will continue to grow. We cannot allow Bin Laden’s fatwas and end goals dictate our horrid foreign policy.
